One of the biggest obstacles to getting and staying organized is space, and a lack there of it. And if you don't have a lot of storage, you have to get creative with the space you do have.
So, how can we get creative with small spaces? Take a look below at some of my big tips.
The most underutilized space in most houses, apartments, rooms, etc.? The walls! The walls provide a lot of space and sort of a ‘blank slate’ to work with.
Try adding a few command hooks and hang your favorite hats, bags, jewelry, etc. These items can sometimes take up much needed space in small closets or rooms. The wall is a creative and stylish way to display them while also saving closet space. And an added bonus? Command hooks are easy to move and remove and don’t damage your walls.
A great area in small spaces to add some additional storage is the back of doors and inside cabinet doors. Try adding some small hooks inside your kitchen cabinets to hang measuring spoons, utensils, pot holders, etc. An over-the-door rack for your pantry or linen closet is another great way to build in some extra storage; and having these on the inside of doors keeps them hidden and things looking clutter free!
Another area that usually has extra wall space? The bathrooms. This is a great opportunity to add an additional shelf or towel rack. Hanging towels saves a lot of much needed space in a linen closet or under the bathroom counters. You can also make it stylish with towels that match the bathroom décor or adding a plant, candle, etc. for a little extra style.
One last sneaky way to add some additional storage to small spaces? Add leg lifts to your bed so you can slide storage containers underneath it. And then, just add a bed skirt to cover it up. Or, use stylish matching bins that you don’t mind showing off.
Small spaces are not impossible to keep organized, you just need to get a little creative!
Or, hire a professional organizer to come and help. That's what we're here for :)
Life is sweet when things are neat.
